GiveBack House Cup: How Cumorah Academy Students and Alumni Give Back

October 3, 2025  •  Author: marketing

At Cumorah Academy, every student’s journey is shaped by faith, hope, and opportunity. Many arrive on campus thanks to the generosity of donors who believed in their potential—people whose support transforms lives. For students, the greatest way to honor that generosity isn’t by repayment—it’s through personal growth, pursuing dreams, and creating opportunities for others.

This spirit of gratitude inspired the GiveBack House Cup, a unique initiative where students and alumni come together to give back to others. By participating in creative campaigns, fundraising activities, and mentorship, participants not only provide scholarships for future students but also strengthen the Cumorah community as a whole.

What Is GiveBack House Cup?

The GiveBack House Cup is a four-week project that teaches generosity, leadership, and service through action. Unlike traditional fundraising efforts, this program emphasizes the values that shape Cumorah Academy: faith, courage, unity, and loyalty. Participants discover that fundraising is not just about raising money—it’s about creating opportunities for others to access life-changing education.

Through the GiveBack House Cup, students and alumni learn that giving back is an act of leadership. Participants engage in teamwork, problem-solving, and creative communication, all while experiencing firsthand the impact their efforts can have on another young adult’s journey. The lessons extend beyond the project, building skills that last a lifetime.

How the GiveBack House Cup Works

Teamwork: Students and alumni collaborate in teams, each responsible for their own fundraising campaign. This collaboration strengthens bonds and encourages mentorship, allowing alumni to guide students while sharing their own experiences.

Creativity: Teams design unique fundraising activities, ranging from online campaigns to in-person events, challenges, and personal outreach. By encouraging innovative approaches, GiveBack House Cup empowers participants to explore new ways to inspire generosity.

Storytelling: Sharing personal Cumorah stories is at the heart of the program. Participants illustrate how scholarships and support made their education possible, creating authentic connections that motivate donors to join the mission.

Mentorship: Faculty and alumni mentors guide participants, helping them see fundraising as an opportunity to grow as leaders, not just a task to complete. Mentorship ensures every campaign reflects both personal passion and community impact.

A Week-by-Week Journey

GiveBack House Cup is structured as a four-week journey, with each week focusing on a theme and inspiration drawn from powerful examples of faith and leadership:

Week 1 – Launch with Faith
Theme: Bold Beginnings | Inspiration: Moroni – Boldness in purpose
Teams are formed, campaigns are set up, and participants begin with faith-filled goals. This week emphasizes planning and vision, laying the foundation for impactful fundraising efforts.

Week 2 – Courage to Create
Theme: Bold Action | Inspiration: Esther – Courage and creativity
Teams launch their first creative initiatives. Participants share their personal “why,” communicating their connection to Cumorah Academy and inspiring supporters to take action.

Week 3 – Gather & Inspire
Theme: Unity & Multiplication | Inspiration: Nephi – Building together
Campaigns expand, supporters are gathered, and gratitude webinars are hosted. This week highlights collaboration and outreach, demonstrating the power of community to achieve extraordinary goals.

Week 4 – Finish Strong, Shine Bright
Theme: Loyalty & Vision | Inspiration: Ruth – Finishing faithfully
Campaigns conclude with celebrations, reflections, and expressions of gratitude. Participants evaluate their experiences, acknowledging both their achievements and the broader impact on future students.

Why Participate in GiveBack House Cup?

There are countless reasons to join GiveBack House Cup, but three stand out as essential:

1. Gratitude in Action

Scholarships open doors to Cumorah Academy for students who might otherwise be unable to attend. GiveBack House Cup transforms gratitude into action by giving students and alumni a chance to provide the same opportunities for future generations. Every effort becomes a tangible legacy of support, mentorship, and hope.

2. Leadership in Practice

GiveBack House Cup is more than raising money—it’s a real-world leadership lab. Participants set ambitious goals, communicate persuasively, solve problems creatively, and collaborate closely. The skills developed here prepare students and alumni to take initiative, inspire others, and navigate challenges confidently.

3. Impact Beyond Yourself

Every donation and effort directly affects a student’s journey at Cumorah Academy. Participants become part of a bigger story, creating lasting change that echoes through the lives of future students, the Academy community, and even their own personal development. By joining, you contribute to shaping tomorrow’s leaders.

Alumni Engagement: Stay Connected and Give Back

The Alumni Association ensures that graduates remain part of the Cumorah community long after leaving campus. Alumni contribute by:

  • Sharing success stories that inspire current students
  • Spreading knowledge and skills through mentorship
  • Celebrating milestones and achievements

GiveBack House Cup extends this spirit. It bridges the past and present, inviting alumni to act in gratitude and generosity alongside current students. Alumni participation strengthens connections, provides guidance, and reinforces the values that make Cumorah Academy exceptional.

Alumni have a unique opportunity to revisit their Cumorah experience, reconnect with old friends, and guide new students while helping their house earn points in the competition. It’s not just fundraising—it’s a chance to leave a lasting mark on the community.
