Student Leadership Interns at Cumorah Academy play an important role in helping students make the most of their semester. They guide their house communities, support student activities, and help create an uplifting environment where everyone can grow.
Each semester brings new challenges, friendships, and opportunities to discover personal potential. Our SLIs help students navigate this journey while developing their own leadership skills. Meet the five Student Leadership Interns supporting our students this semester and discover what motivates them.
What Is a Student Leadership Intern at Cumorah Academy?
A Student Leadership Intern (SLI) helps guide students throughout their experience at Cumorah Academy. Each intern supports a house community and contributes to a positive environment where students can build friendships, strengthen their leadership skills, and work toward their goals.
The SLI experience also gives interns opportunities to practice responsibility, serve others, and discover new directions for their lives. Their personal goals and experiences bring unique perspectives to the role.
Let’s meet our SLIs and learn more about their journeys.
Alanis Romero: Esther House and Activities Supervisor

Country: Peru
Role: Student Leadership Intern, Esther House, and Activities Supervisor
Alanis Romero joins the SLI team with a personal goal: to find her next step in life and become more confident in herself.
Her studies in applied sciences and professional studies give her a foundation as she explores future opportunities. Through her role at Cumorah Academy, she can also gain practical leadership experience while helping students enjoy a meaningful semester.
As the Esther House SLI and Activities Supervisor, Alanis contributes to the community experience. Her role connects student support with the activities that bring people together.
Her journey reflects an important part of personal development: growth begins when we take steps toward understanding ourselves and discovering what comes next.
Cristopher Ortega: Moroni House

Country: Costa Rica
Role: Student Leadership Intern, Moroni House
Cristopher Ortega has a clear purpose for his SLI experience. From the very first day, he has wanted to support his students throughout their journey and help each person become the best version of themselves.
He describes the experience as a surreal journey, highlighting how meaningful this season can be for the people involved.
For Cristopher, leadership means being present for others as they face challenges, explore their potential, and pursue their goals. His commitment reflects the importance of encouragement and personal attention in a community built around growth.
His goal is to help every student feel supported as they work toward becoming the person they want to be.
Eduardo Krett: Isaiah House

Country: Brazil
Role: Student Leadership Intern, Isaiah House
Eduardo Krett understands the value of receiving support firsthand as a Cumorah Academy student.
Now, he has the opportunity to offer that same support to others. As the SLI for Isaiah House, Eduardo brings a desire to give back to the community that helped him during his own development.
His perspective highlights how one person’s investment in another can inspire a cycle of service. Students who receive encouragement can use their experiences to encourage others in return.
For Eduardo, becoming an SLI means turning the help he received into an opportunity to serve and support fellow students.
David Terrazas: Ruth House

Country: Mexico
Role: Student Leadership Intern, Ruth House
David Terrazas Correa is studying personal finances and conflict management while serving as the SLI for Ruth House.
These areas of study connect with important aspects of everyday life. Understanding finances can help people make thoughtful decisions, while learning about conflict management can strengthen relationships and communication.
David also has a personal creative goal: finishing a book he is writing.
His journey combines academic interests, leadership responsibilities, and creative ambition. As he supports Ruth House, he can continue developing skills that contribute to his personal growth while making progress toward his writing goal.
Dallin Romero: Nephi House

Country: Peru
Role: Student Leadership Intern, Nephi House
Field of study: Software Development at Brigham Young University (BYU)
Dallin Erick Romero Talledo is looking for a fresh start in life. He has two goals: landing his first job as a programmer and improving his leadership skills.
His background in software development connects his professional ambitions with his desire to grow as a leader. His SLI experience offers another opportunity to develop skills that can support his future career.
By guiding students in Nephi House, Dallin can practice responsibility, collaboration, and leadership while working toward his professional goals.
His journey shows how personal development and career preparation can complement each other as young adults build their futures.
Growing Through Leadership and Service
Our Student Leadership Interns bring different backgrounds, ambitions, and experiences to Cumorah Academy. Alanis wants to discover her next step; Cristopher hopes to help students reach their potential; Eduardo wants to give back; David is working toward finishing his book; and Dallin is preparing for a career in programming.
Despite their different goals, they share an opportunity to support others while continuing their own development.
Leadership grows when we put our skills into practice, take responsibility, and help others succeed.
