The Excitement of New Beginnings

Have you ever felt excited about something new in your life? Perhaps it was your first day at school or an important presentation at work. We teach our students how to approach these moments with grit and focus. Today, many students from around the world feel the same excitement as they experience their first day at Cumorah Academy. For some, it’s their first time leaving their home country!

These students have packed for three months, leaving behind their families and the comforts of home to pursue something greater. They have dreams, but many are unsure how to properly chase them. A large number feel directionless and without purpose.

Taking the First Steps Towards Change

Each student brings their unique vision to the classroom and contributes to the learning environment we’ve cultivated. Small decisions made here can dramatically alter the course of their lives. You may be familiar with this Chinese proverb:

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

The wisdom in this simple statement shows us how to approach large goals. By breaking them down into manageable steps, we gain the confidence to pursue them.

This is a powerful idea and has a twofold meaning in our context. First, it applies to our students. Each of them has a unique dream, and step by step, they will achieve their goals. By interacting with mentors and teachers, they will discover where to direct their efforts. Secondly, this proverb reflects our mission at Cumorah Academy.

Our mission is to empower this generation to change the world. We do this by transforming one student at a time.

Cumorah Academy is here to change this reality.

A Semester Full of Possibilities

We celebrate both beginnings and endings, and this semester promises to be groundbreaking for many reasons. One of them is that some students will experience snow for the very first time. For those who grew up in North America or Europe, snow may seem ordinary. But for students from tropical countries, it will be an unforgettable experience.

Keep following us throughout the semester as new stories and events unfold. Our responsibility is to ensure that every student develops a clear life vision, acquires the tools needed to accomplish their goals, and gains the ability to inspire others along the way. Regardless of the circumstances, anyone can be an inspiration to those around them.

We’ll close with another Chinese proverb about teaching and inspiring:

Teachers can open the door, but you must enter it yourself.

The door is open for our students, and they’ve chosen to enter. We warmly invite you to join us on this adventure. Interestingly, the word “welcome” comes from the Old English word wilcuma, meaning “a person whose coming is pleasing.” To our students, mentors, staff, and everyone involved in this exciting project, we proudly say:

Welcome to the Fall Semester.
