At Cumorah Academy, one of our core missions is to help students uncover their vision and, ultimately, achieve success.

Have you ever felt lost in life? Sometimes, we need a clear direction to guide our decisions and purpose.

Those who follow our blog might recognize Russell and Samantha Ford. Since their first visit to campus, they have profoundly impacted students with their energy and valuable experiences. In this post, we’ll explore how Sam and Russell help students find their purpose and life vision.

II. Mentors with a Mission: Russell and Samantha Ford

Hailing from England, Russell and Sam bring both wisdom and a charming accent to our campus. Since 2022, they have been an integral part of the Cumorah Academy community.

Russell followed in his father’s footsteps, studying law at university. Through this journey, he learned the importance of mentorship—having someone to guide you along the way.

Sam, passionate about education, graduated in History but dedicated her career to teaching individuals with learning disabilities and mental health challenges. Her unwavering belief in people’s potential is evident in everything she does.

Understanding that not everyone has access to a mentor, the Fords made it their mission to mentor young adults, offering guidance and inspiration. Happily married for over 20 years, with five children, they have not only found their vision but also lived it with purpose.

“Make a choice, stick with it, and commit to it,” they advise.

III. Learning Through Experience: A Vision for Growth

The Fords structure their classes around personal storytelling, using their own experiences as teaching tools. 

Yet, a mentor’s role is not to dictate but to guide—offering role models and encouraging students to embrace fundamental principles for success.

One of their key teachings is the power of visualization—clearly defining what you want to achieve at a given point in life. This simple yet powerful lesson has led many students to success.

Students at Cumorah Academy have expressed deep gratitude for the Fords’ presence:

Alison from the USA adds, “They are so full of love and absolutely hilarious!” Indeed, their humor brings joy to learning—because a sense of humor is vital in life.
