Networking at Cumorah Academy

Networking is more than just a buzzword; it’s a vital skill in today’s ever-connected world. With technological advancements pushing us to stay connected, Cumorah Academy embeds networking into its curriculum to help students thrive.

We consistently encourage our students to connect with one another, explore their passions, and understand diverse interests. This is why networking is a cornerstone of our program. Who better to teach this invaluable skill than Beverly and Jonathan Cutting?

Beverly eloquently defines networking as “the process of knowing who’s gone there before. It can inspire us on our own path or even help us decide not to go down a particular path.”

Advice for Entrepreneurs and Professionals

Beverly offers practical advice for aspiring entrepreneurs: “Make a business plan, work hard, and be prepared to fail a lot. You have to be fearless. And don’t ever stop learning. Don’t be afraid if the plans change.”

Additionally, Jonathan shares equally profound insights for those preparing for a career: “Expand your professional identity beyond your degree. You’re going to play in a much bigger field than that. Be ready to continue learning, collaborate, and grow your capabilities.”

With Beverly’s background in Fashion Design and Psychology and Jonathan’s expertise in Chemical Engineering, they bring a wealth of knowledge and real-world experience to our students.

The Cuttings’ Networking Journey to Cumorah

It was a Christmas dinner that led the Cuttings to Cumorah Academy. They met mentors who shared their experiences at Cumorah, and the Cuttings immediately felt drawn to the Academy’s vision.

“We fell in love with the daring vision Patrick and his wife Alyse had for this program. We thought, ‘We need to be a part of that.’” Now they are inspiring our students, sharing their journey, and helping shape the next generation of leaders.

Lifelong Learning and Expanding Skill Sets

As the world evolves rapidly, adapting to change becomes essential. The Cuttings emphasize the importance of lifelong learning, encouraging students to explore fields beyond their current interests.

“Identify other fields you might be interested in,” advises Jonathan. “Find books and mentors in those areas to expand your knowledge and horizons. Diversifying skill sets makes you stand out more uniquely.”

At Cumorah, students understand that this is a safe environment to try, fail, and grow. Networking and serving together create a foundation of support that reflects the wisdom of an old African proverb:

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
