Feeling Lost Is Part of Growing Up
It’s normal to feel lost once in a while.
Young adults face many choices. New paths appear every day. Social pressure grows. Expectations feel heavy. Many people ask themselves important questions: Who am I? What should I do next? Where do I belong?
At times like this, confidence becomes essential. Confidence helps us move forward even when we do not have all the answers. It gives us courage to try new things and trust the learning process.
A Place Designed for Growth and Purpose
Cumorah Academy’s mission is to gather young people and help them discover what they can accomplish. Students arrive from different countries, cultures, and life experiences. Each one carries dreams and questions about the future. Together, they learn, grow, and build direction.
This environment creates real opportunities for building confidence as a young adult.

Building Confidence as a Young Adult Through New Experiences
Alma Moreno, one of our students, represents this incredible generation. She comes from Spain and previously served a meaningful mission. After returning home, she searched for new opportunities to continue growing.
She wanted to improve her English and strengthen her leadership skills. More importantly, she wanted clarity about her future.
When Alma arrived on campus, she immediately connected with students from around the world. She joined English and leadership courses that challenged her daily. She also participated in outreach projects, where students served others and worked as teams.
These experiences pushed her outside her comfort zone. She practiced public speaking. She shared ideas in group discussions. Alma learned how to communicate with confidence.
Step by step, she experienced building confidence as a young adult through action.
She first heard about Cumorah Academy through a friend who had already attended the program. That recommendation helped her make the decision to come.
“It’s a great place to grow spiritually and personally,” says Alma.

Stepping Outside the Comfort Zone
Her expectations were clear before arriving.
“My expectations were very high.”
High expectations can feel risky. Sometimes reality disappoints us. But Alma chose to stay open to learning instead of comparing every moment to her expectations. That mindset helped her enjoy the journey and focus on growth.
Growth rarely happens inside comfort zones. It happens when we accept challenges and allow ourselves to learn from mistakes.
Learning to Be Diligent and Genuine
During her time at Cumorah Academy, Alma discovered lessons that changed how she interacts with others.
“Something that Cumorah taught me is to be diligent and genuine in all my interactions,” says Alma.
This lesson became central to her experience. Being diligent means showing up every day with effort and purpose. Being genuine means staying true to who you are while respecting others.
These values strengthened her relationships and helped her develop leadership skills. Through teamwork and service, she learned that confidence grows when we focus on helping others instead of proving ourselves.
That realization marked an important moment in her journey of building confidence as a young adult.

Confidence Comes From Progress, Not Perfection
Many young people believe confidence comes from talent or success. Alma learned something different. Confidence grows through consistent effort, learning, and faith.
Each class, each conversation, and each challenge helped her see her own potential more clearly.
Confidence is not about perfection. It is about progress.
Discovering Direction for the Future
As her program continued, Alma began thinking about the future with greater clarity. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, she felt motivated.
Her plans after Cumorah Academy reflect both ambition and purpose.
“I want to keep being a disciple of Jesus Christ. Also, I intend to attend BYU-Provo for the next few years.”
Her goals show how personal development connects with spiritual growth. She wants education, but she also wants meaning and happiness.
In her own words, she explains her deepest desire:
“I want to be happy and apply what I have learned here.”
This statement captures the heart of building confidence as a young adult. True confidence allows people to apply lessons in real life, not just remember them.

Why Environment Shapes Your Confidence
Alma’s experience shows that confidence develops through small daily decisions. Choosing to participate. Choosing to speak, serve, and grow.
Young adults everywhere face uncertainty. Some feel pressure to have life fully planned. Others compare themselves to friends or social media expectations. Yet confidence grows when we focus on personal progress instead of comparison.
Your path does not need to look like anyone else’s path.
Programs like Cumorah Academy create spaces where young people can explore their identity, strengthen faith, and develop leadership abilities. Students discover talents they never noticed before. They form friendships that inspire long-term growth.
Through experiences like Alma’s, many students begin building confidence as a young adult in practical and lasting ways.
Finding Your Path in Life
Her final recommendation reflects her sincere gratitude for the experience.
“I would 100% recommend Cumorah Academy to anybody. Especially if you want to find your path in life.”
Her story reminds us that confidence does not appear overnight. It grows through learning, connection, and purposeful action.
If you feel unsure about your future, remember this: confidence starts when you choose growth over fear. Every new experience can help you discover who you are becoming.
