The Sweet Fruits of Sacrifice
Often, temporarily sacrificing something we love to receive a blessing brings the sweetest fruits. To attain a goal, we must set aside something in order to gain something greater. Nothing in life is easy, and this is a lesson Pedro learned well.
A New Journey Begins
Born in Mexico, Pedro is one of the semester students who embarked on our campus, believing he could become more. At 24 years old, Pedro was a successful sales representative in his home country before joining our program. A message on LinkedIn from one of our staff members led him to search for and learn more about Cumorah Academy.
Enchanted by our courses, Pedro silenced all the negative thoughts and said “yes” to Cumorah Academy. Embracing a new adventure where he could immerse himself in an environment of learning and fun excited him.

The Price of Progress
However, coming to Cumorah Academy wasn’t a bed of roses.
“I sold my car, my very first car, and left my fiancée waiting for me,” he says. “I deeply reflected before making this decision, but it will be worth it for my future.” Many students had to make sacrifices to join our campus. They set aside time with family and friends, and even left their homes to seize the opportunity to experience Cumorah Academy to its fullest.

A Vision for the Future
Pedro decided to come because he believed he would expand his talents and attain his ultimate life vision. As the youngest of three siblings and the only one living with his family, he was working as a sales representative back in Mexico when he applied to our Sales Course, created and led by Nina Scurtu.
He learned important skills essential to any sales operation, which expanded his previous knowledge and experience in the field. Cumorah Academy not only enhances your past experiences but also teaches you new lessons.

Preparing for Life’s Challenges
In this ever-changing world, we work to ensure our students develop the skills needed to survive and prosper—not only academically or professionally, but also as better citizens, parents, spouses, and people. This is why, during the very first week on campus, we encourage our students to visualize their lives by asking deep, reflective questions:
- What do I want to do with my life?
- What are my values?
- What are my strengths and weaknesses? How can I improve?
Asking questions like these opens our minds to new possibilities and opportunities. Pedro already knows what he wants to achieve and become when he returns home. “I want to be a businessman, a great husband, and a good leader.” Having visionary students like Pedro is truly a blessing to our campus. Our success is their success.
The Courage to Grow
The possibilities we offer attracted Pedro to Cumorah Academy and gave him the courage to embark on a new chapter of his life. “The chance to connect with other students and have caring mentors on campus was amazing!” he says. Indeed, connecting with other students and being taught by experienced leaders opens new doors for every student.

Embracing New Horizons
Pedro is eager to return home and apply everything he learned at Cumorah Academy. He became a better version of himself while making new friends, connections, and expanding his knowledge. His favorite scripture teaches that “perfect love casteth out all fear” (Moroni 8:16). As he immersed himself in the love of God on campus, he was able to cast out all his fears and embrace the new horizons of his life. We desire this transformation for all students at Cumorah Academy.
