Finding Purpose: Lehi’s Journey to Cumorah Academy
At some point, we all feel it—that quiet sense that we’re meant for more. That our talents are greater than what we’ve been using. That somewhere inside us, there’s untapped potential just waiting to be awakened.
But what if there was a place designed to help you discover exactly that?
A place where you’re surrounded by people who share timeless values like love, charity, respect—and who actually live them. A Christ-centered environment where learning isn’t just about books, but about building character, purpose, and vision.
That’s what Lehi Felipe, born in Brazil and living in Spain, found when he heard about Cumorah Academy. Still serving his mission, a friend told him about a unique opportunity: three months of immersive growth, focused on English, leadership, and faith. And something in him immediately clicked.

Stepping Into a New Chapter
There’s something powerful about starting fresh. That mix of nerves and excitement when you take a bold step toward your future. Lehi felt that the moment he chose to study English and dive into Leadership & Personal Development at Cumorah Academy.
These weren’t just classes—they were tools to unlock new opportunities. Speaking fluent English and learning how to lead with purpose? That’s a combination that opens doors anywhere.
“I loved the idea of studying English and learning about leadership for three months,” Lehi recalls.
Beyond the academics, Lehi gained practical life skills that will serve him for years to come.
“I learned teamwork, problem-solving, and conflict resolution—skills I’ll use to help others in the future.”
Rooted in his faith and a desire to serve, Lehi stepped confidently into a new chapter—one marked by clarity, growth, and direction.
His story is one of many. But it captures what makes Cumorah Academy so powerful: a space where young adults come to learn, grow, and discover their purpose—together.

From Mission to Mission-Driven: A Place to Continue Growing
As a returned missionary, Lehi was eager to continue growing in a Christ-centered atmosphere. He wanted a place that would challenge him spiritually, mentally, and professionally.
Lehi loved his mission deeply. He served a mission in Spain, where he
“For future students, I say come to Cumorah! Here you’ll learn how to make a life vision for yourself. It’s the best experience of your life. I’m so happy to be here.”
It’s not uncommon to hear students say that Cumorah feels like an answer to prayer. Whether they’re transitioning from missions, university, or job searches, what they often need is a bridge between potential and purpose.

Why Young Adults Are Turning to Leadership and English Programs Abroad
In an increasingly globalized world, strong English communication skills and leadership abilities are among the most in-demand competencies in the job market. According to the World Economic Forum, communication, resilience, and leadership are among the top 10 skills needed for 2025 and beyond (WEF, 2023).
Lehi, originally from Brazil and living in Spain, saw Cumorah as an opportunity to gain those very skills—and much more. “Now, I feel more comfortable speaking and interacting with others in English! Cumorah is helping me to find a better job. I see a big change in my life.”
What makes Cumorah different? It’s not just a school; it’s a launchpad for purpose-driven transformation.
The Power of Mentorship: How Weekly Sessions Shape Lives
At Cumorah Academy, weekly mentorship sessions are more than academic support—they’re a lifeline. Lehi attributes much of his growth to the one-on-one attention he received from experienced mentors who helped him map out his future.
“Writing down my life vision was key to my progress,” he says.
“I’m grateful for the mentors. Every week, they helped me with my life vision. And the teachers genuinely care about our progress.”
Lehi’s life vision is his compass for decisions. Armed with it, he is now able to say “no” to everything that distracts him from pursuing his goals. As he spoke to mentors related to his life, new insights came to his mind.
And research backs him up. According to a 2022 study from Chronus, 87% of mentees say they feel empowered by their mentoring relationships and develop greater confidence in navigating life decisions.
Cumorah fosters an environment where vision, purpose, and faith come together. Every student is invited to write a personal Life Vision—a roadmap for becoming the person they aspire to be.

The Cumorah Community: Where Friendships and Faith Intersect
When asked about his favorite part of Cumorah, Lehi doesn’t hesitate:
“My favorite part was that here I can network and learn from other people. You can make good friends here.”
That sense of community is vital. Students arrive from different corners of the world. Some were referred by a friend, others through a social media post. But they all share one thing in common: they’re looking for more.
They’re looking for meaning, for progress, and for a place to belong.
