Cumorah Academy English Teaching Internship

Description

The English Teaching Intern helps lead Cumorah Academy’s English language program on our campus in the Czech Republic. This full-time internship offers an opportunity to develop practical teaching experience while mentoring and supporting young adults from around the world in improving their English proficiency.

 

Throughout the 12-week semester, you’ll collaborate with fellow interns and faculty to teach English classes ranging from Pre-Intermediate (B1) to Advanced (C1) levels, including preparation for the Cambridge English Examinations (B1 Preliminary, B2 First, and C1 Advanced). You’ll also have the chance to provide one-on-one instruction, develop engaging activities, and help students build confidence in their speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills.

 

This internship is ideal for students or graduates studying TESOL, English Education, Linguistics, or related fields who are eager to apply their skills in an immersive, cross-cultural environment while contributing to Cumorah Academy’s mission of empowering individuals through education, leadership, and service.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and facilitate a variety of English language classes, from Pre-Intermediate to Advanced levels.
    Assist students in preparing for Cambridge English Exams (B1 Preliminary, B2 First, and C1 Advanced).
  • Provide both group instruction and one-on-one tutoring sessions.
  • Design creative lessons and activities that enhance language learning and student engagement.
  • Attend weekly on-campus staff meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Participate in leadership and institute classes each week.
  • Collaborate closely with Iain Saunders and the English teaching team for feedback and coordination.
  • Support Cumorah Academy’s mission by fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Native English speaker or at CEFR C2 proficiency level.
  • Completed or currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Completed or currently enrolled in a TESOL or TEFL certification program.
  • Fully available for the full 12-week semester (arriving 2 days before classes begin and staying 1 day after the semester ends).
  • Valid passport with eligibility for entry into the EU Schengen Zone (90-day stay).
  • Able to obtain valid health insurance for the duration of the semester.
  • No dependents (this is a live-on-campus position).
  • Able to teach 18–24 hours per week (more when coverage is needed).
  • Hardworking, creative, and dedicated to student learning.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Fully committed to teaching English as a foreign language and pursuing professional growth as an educator.

Preferences & Helpful Experience

  • Experience living or studying in multicultural environments.
  • Familiarity with Spanish, Portuguese, Czech, or Ukrainian (helpful but not required).
  • Prior experience tutoring or teaching English to speakers of other languages.

Expectations

Interns are expected to fully participate in the academic, social, and spiritual aspects of the Cumorah Academy experience — including classes, service projects, cultural excursions, and worship services.
