Laura’s Journey: Finding Life Purpose Through Structure, Faith, and Entrepreneurship

September 8, 2025  •  Author: marketing

Finding life purpose is not something that happens overnight. It’s often a process of discovery shaped by experiences, mentors, and the environments we immerse ourselves in. For some, it comes after years of trial and error. For others, it begins with a single, life-changing decision to step out of their comfort zone. In Laura Carolina Naranjo Osorio’s case, that decision was to leave her home in Colombia and join the Winter 2025 semester at Cumorah Academy.

When Laura first considered Cumorah, her primary goal seemed simple: improve her English. But what she discovered went far beyond language skills.

She found a community that challenged her to grow, mentors who inspired her to reframe her perspective, and an environment that gave her the tools to structure her days with purpose. What began as an effort to learn English became a transformative season of growth, clarity, and empowerment. Laura not only strengthened her confidence and routines but also uncovered the courage to embrace her entrepreneurial dream, setting her on a path she had once thought was out of reach.

Life Before Cumorah: Searching for Focus

Before arriving at Cumorah Academy, Laura describes her life as lacking focus and structure. “Honestly, with less focus,” she reflects, “coming to Cumorah not only helped me improve my English a little but also gave me more order and structure in my daily routines and in the daily goals that achieve purpose.”

Like many young adults, she had ambition but needed a framework to translate her intentions into meaningful action. She wanted more than just progress in English—she wanted clarity in her vision and daily life. That clarity would come when she began finding life purpose through the guidance, classes, and mentorship offered at Cumorah Academy.

Building Belief in Herself

For Laura, Cumorah wasn’t about changing her beliefs, but about strengthening them. “It’s not that Cumorah changed my beliefs, but it did give me more structure to believe in myself and how blessed I am,” she explains.

That shift was crucial. Believing in herself allowed her to see her strengths more clearly and to recognize the value of daily discipline. Routines stopped being ordinary tasks and instead became small steps toward her larger goals. With each day of consistency, she grew more confident in her ability to achieve what mattered most.

Lessons That Shaped a New Vision

When asked what impressed her most during her time at Cumorah Academy, Laura points to the power of order, structure, and purpose. She came to see that the small, intentional actions of daily routines build the foundation for long-term success. This wasn’t just about English lessons or leadership classes—it was about finding life purpose by aligning her values with her actions.

Her mentors played an essential role in this transformation. She recalls the profound impact of Jones, Kent, and Karen: “They were the voice of my Father God to me, to focus on life and give it its true value, to pursue my dreams, and to begin with self-care. They had a profound influence on me with their wise words and their hearts full of love and kindness.”

Through them, she realized that success is not only external achievement but also internal alignment with one’s beliefs and values.

From Student to Entrepreneur

One of the most significant outcomes of Laura’s semester was her decision to pursue entrepreneurship. “After Cumorah, I decided to bet on myself and my dream and my purpose thanks to the work and the vision of life I had at Cumorah with my mentors,” she says. “So now I’m an entrepreneur.”

That step required courage, but Laura was prepared. At Cumorah, she had studied English while also learning valuable professional skills through classes in leadership, personal development, and emotional intelligence. These lessons gave her the foundation to navigate uncertainty with resilience and confidence.

She now sees herself not just as someone with a business idea, but as a leader capable of inspiring others, making sound decisions, and driving meaningful impact.

Skills That Made the Difference

When reflecting on the skills she carried into her entrepreneurial journey, Laura highlights several core lessons:

  • Active Listening: Understanding others deeply, not just waiting for her turn to speak.
  • Empathy: Building authentic relationships based on care and compassion.
  • Conscious Leadership: Leading by example and with intention.
  • Givers and Takers Framework: Learning how to collaborate wisely and build mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Emotional Intelligence: Managing her emotions and responses, even in high-pressure situations.

These weren’t just abstract concepts; they became practical tools for building her business and her life.

Advice to Future Students

Laura is clear when offering advice to others considering Cumorah: “Living the Cumorah experience is meant to give you vision and purpose in your life, as well as focus on your daily actions. At Cumorah, you’ll learn to focus on what you want, but first, you must be clear about what you want to achieve the best possible results.”

Her words highlight an important truth: finding life purpose requires both clarity and action. Without knowing what you want, it’s easy to drift. But with vision, every daily habit can bring you closer to your goals.

The Role of Faith and Gratitude

Laura’s story cannot be separated from her faith. She found in Cumorah not only professional tools but also a spiritual environment that deepened her connection with God and her sense of gratitude. “Although I still don’t have [English] very well, I managed to find a space where I could connect with God and my life purpose,” she says.

This blend of faith and learning gave her the strength to step into entrepreneurship with confidence. Her gratitude toward her mentors and community continues to fuel her determination.

Why Finding Life Purpose Matters

For Laura, the greatest gift of Cumorah was not just better English or professional skills—it was the discovery of her own life purpose. With structure, discipline, and the encouragement of mentors, she learned that purpose doesn’t come by accident. It comes when we choose to listen, to act, and to grow.

Her story shows that finding life purpose isn’t a luxury; it’s the key to unlocking courage, focus, and meaningful progress. Whether in studies, career, or faith, Laura now moves forward with clarity and determination.
