Every Cumorah Academy session is filled with experiences that challenge students to grow as leaders, strengthen their character, and build lifelong friendships. While much of that growth happens in the classroom, through mentorship, and during service opportunities, some of the most memorable lessons take place beyond campus.
One of those experiences is the trip to Vienna, Austria.
As the session draws to a close, students travel together to one of Europe’s most remarkable capitals, where history, architecture, culture, and meaningful conversations come together. More than just sightseeing, the Vienna trip serves as a reminder of how far students have come and how soon they will return home to apply everything they have learned.
Walking through Vienna’s grand streets offers more than beautiful scenery. It provides time to reflect on the journey that began months earlier at Cumorah Academy.
As student Tiago Bettencourt from Portugal shared:
“Cumorah is a special place where we change. A trip to Vienna near the end of the session reminds us that Cumorah will end, and we will enter the world again soon. To use what we learned, to guide those who need help, to keep honing and strengthening our skills, to become the leaders that our friends, families, and local communities back home, wherever we decide to call home, that they need us to be!”
His words capture the purpose behind the experience. Every class, every leadership challenge, every mentor conversation, and every friendship prepares students for life after Cumorah. The Vienna trip becomes a symbolic bridge between the unique environment of the Academy and the opportunities waiting beyond it.

Discovering One of Europe’s Most Beautiful Cities
Students had the opportunity to explore one of the world’s most beautiful cities.
From magnificent gardens and historic castles to breathtaking churches and elegant streets, Vienna offered countless moments of wonder. Every corner of the city reflects centuries of history, art, music, and culture, inviting students to slow down, observe, and appreciate the beauty surrounding them.
Whether walking through impressive palaces, enjoying peaceful green spaces, or simply sharing conversations as they explored the city together, students experienced a different side of Europe that many had only seen in books or photographs.
These experiences help broaden perspectives. They remind students that leadership also means understanding different cultures, appreciating history, and developing curiosity about the world.

Creating Memories That Last
Of course, the destination itself was only part of what made the trip unforgettable.
The friendships formed throughout the session transformed every walk, every meal, and every conversation into lasting memories.
Daniela Morales from Mexico reflected on that experience:
“The Vienna trip was amazing! We had the opportunity to walk through the city and explore the gardens, castles, and churches. Even though it was so hot, we had fun! I loved being with my friends in Vienna. It was one of our last trips, and I really enjoyed it.”
Her experience highlights one of the greatest blessings of Cumorah Academy: the people.
Students arrive from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds, often knowing no one when they first step onto campus. Over the course of the session, those strangers become teammates, roommates, trusted friends, and a support system that continues long after graduation.
By the time they arrive in Vienna, they are no longer simply traveling together. They are celebrating everything they have experienced as a community.

A Meaningful Opportunity
For many students, visiting Vienna is an opportunity they never imagined they would have.
Cumorah Academy makes experiences like this possible because education extends beyond classroom walls. Traveling together allows students to strengthen relationships, gain confidence, and develop a greater appreciation for the diversity of Europe and the people around them.
Glenda Moser from Brazil shared:
“It was an incredible experience. The opportunity that Cumorah Academy provided allowed us to visit Vienna and enjoy a trip in a very meaningful way.”
That sense of gratitude is shared by many students who recognize that these experiences contribute to their personal growth. The places they visit, the conversations they have, and the moments they share all help shape the leaders they are becoming.

More Than a Trip
The Vienna excursion is much more than a travel experience.
It is a reminder that learning happens everywhere. Leadership is developed not only through lessons and assignments but also through new environments, meaningful relationships, shared adventures, and moments of reflection.
As students prepare to return home, they leave with more than photographs and souvenirs. They carry new perspectives, greater confidence, stronger friendships, and a renewed commitment to serve their families, communities, and future careers.
The memories made in Vienna become part of a much larger story—a story of transformation that begins at Cumorah Academy and continues long after students leave campus.
