Family Day was a wonderful opportunity to bring students and the local community together in an atmosphere of friendship, service, and fun.
Families, children, neighbors, and friends gathered on campus to enjoy an afternoon filled with games, soccer, snacks, and meaningful conversations. While the activities created plenty of excitement, the event’s true purpose went much deeper than entertainment.
A Mission Centered on Service
From its beginning, Cumorah Academy has sought to help students become leaders by serving others. Family Day reflected that mission perfectly.
During the event, Elder and Sister Fisher shared their thoughts on the importance of community outreach centers and their role in strengthening relationships.

For many students, arriving at Cumorah Academy means stepping into an entirely new environment. They leave behind familiar places, family, and friends to study alongside young adults from around the world.
Federico Vil, a student from Colombia, reflected on this experience.
He shared that many people who come to Cumorah Academy don’t have a lot of friends when they first arrive. Events like Family Day help change that.
As students organized activities, played soccer with children, and interacted with local families, friendships developed naturally. Working together in service created an environment where everyone felt welcomed and valued.

Bringing the Community Together
Throughout the afternoon, children laughed as they played games, parents enjoyed spending time with their families, and students connected with members of the local community.
Although participants came from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds, those differences quickly disappeared as everyone focused on having fun together.
