Many young adults dream about building a meaningful life. They imagine traveling the world, starting a successful career, creating a business, serving others, or making a real difference. Yet many never take the first step. Fear, uncertainty, and loneliness often stand between them and the future they want.
This challenge affects more people than you may think. According to a new international study led by researchers at the Washington University in St. Louis School of Public Health, nearly four in ten adults across eight countries reported feeling lonely. Young adults reported some of the highest levels of loneliness, showing that many people struggle to find purpose, connection, and confidence during this stage of life.
What if you could find a place where people believed in your potential before you believed in yourself? What if you surrounded yourself with friends and mentors who encouraged you to dream bigger and act with confidence?
For Camden Smith, that opportunity changed everything.

Why Achieving Your Goals Starts With One Decision
Camden grew up in Morgan, Utah. Like many young adults, she had exciting dreams for her future. She wanted to accomplish more, experience new adventures, and become the person she knew she could become.
Still, something kept holding her back.
“My life was repetitive, and I had so many dreams for the future,” Camden says.
Many young adults understand exactly how that feels. Daily routines can become comfortable. Weeks turn into months, and months turn into years. Eventually, people begin wondering whether they will ever pursue the goals they once cared about.
The problem rarely comes from a lack of talent.
Instead, fear often becomes the biggest obstacle.
Fear tells us to wait for the perfect moment. Fear convinces us that someone else has more experience or greater abilities. Fear encourages us to stay where life feels predictable, even when we know we want something more.
Camden recognized that fear had taken control.
“I was too scared to actually do them, so I needed something to push me out of my comfort zone.”
That decision became the beginning of an entirely new chapter.

Lesson One: Set Higher Goals Than You Think Possible
One of the greatest lessons Camden learned came from changing the way she viewed her own potential.
Instead of settling for comfortable goals, she discovered the value of aiming much higher.
Many people lower their expectations because they worry about failure. They choose smaller dreams because smaller dreams feel safer.
However, growth rarely happens inside a comfort zone.
When you choose a goal that challenges you, you naturally develop new skills. You become more resilient. You solve bigger problems. You learn to trust yourself.
Camden discovered exactly that during her experience at Cumorah Academy.
“Something that I learned here is to set high goals. If you do that, you’ll push yourself to the best you can and try your hardest.”
This mindset reaches far beyond school.
Whether your goal involves building a career, strengthening your faith, improving your relationships, or serving your community, ambitious goals encourage personal growth. Even if you do not achieve every objective exactly as planned, you become a stronger and more capable person along the journey.

Lesson Two: Choose the Right People to Walk Beside You
Your environment shapes your future.
The people around you influence how you think, what you believe, and what you expect from yourself.
At Cumorah Academy, Camden found a community that inspired her to grow every day.
She participated in outreach projects, learned inside engaging classrooms, developed new talents, and built friendships with young adults who shared similar values and aspirations.
These projects are valuable since they teach skills that will benefit both the community and the student. Among the skills are compassion, hard work, determination, and commitment.
Instead of asking whether something seemed possible, they asked how they could accomplish it together.
That kind of environment changes people.
Confidence grows when someone believes in you.
Leadership develops when someone gives you responsibility.
Faith increases when you see others overcome their own challenges.
Many students arrive with questions about their future. They leave with greater confidence, lifelong friendships, and a clearer vision for their lives.

Your Future Begins With the Choices You Make Today
Every young adult reaches a moment when they must decide what kind of life they want to create.
You can continue following the same routine and hope something changes.
Or you can choose an experience that stretches your abilities, introduces you to inspiring people, and helps you discover strengths you never knew you had.
Camden made that choice. She challenged herself to leave her comfort zone.
Most importantly, she discovered that her future looked much brighter than she had imagined.
Her story reminds us that extraordinary lives rarely happen by accident. They begin with one courageous decision to believe that something greater is possible.
If you have dreams that seem too big, remember Camden’s experience. Your fears do not define your future. Your willingness to act does.
